It is impossible to scroll through the news without seeing “AI” constantly mentioned. This could be in the context of how AI will take our jobs, improve our lives, or simply entertain us.
For the worker bees and job searchers, there are plenty of bots that will help craft resumes and cover letters. However, once a resume has been created, there isn’t much additional work needed, which takes us to the next step in the process — the submission of job applications.
As an applicant, I have to go to different sites, create logins, upload my resume, and then often enter my job history, anyway, because it doesn’t correctly capture everything from the resume. Then after spending more time than I would like, I apply for the job and sometimes I might get an automated response, and other times I might hear nothing. Most of the time, I don’t get contacted for an interview. I think it is safe to say, most job hunters have a similar experience.
To streamline the process, a handful of companies have introduced AI-powered solutions that handle the tasks of applying on people's behalf, leaving me to sit back and wait for interview requests to roll in–for a fee, of course. So, with that in mind, I decided to see if AI could help me find a job.
